Hattie gave herself a rite of passage haircut this Christmas season, but the kids were still looking darling in their holiday attire and celebrations went off without a hitch. Now it’s time to start fresh, try something new, and embrace the New Year opportunity!

The first millennial word of the year is ‘let them cook.’ This Gen Z phrase is best used when someone is doing their thing and thriving. Another variation is ‘someone cooked here’ meaning a person you’re dating has been taught something by a previous partner.

Lizz is ready to grow in several areas of her life this year, so she’s setting attainable 15 minute goals that jive with the reality of being a new mom. Kelly reminds us that laundry is so kind, it’ll always be there when you get back. 

First up on driveway dumps, Kelly is more certain than ever that men in Christmas morning jammies still give her the ick. Kelly’s still obsessed with her pot coffee. She’s a Folgers with heavy cream kinda girly. Lip liners are Kelly’s new makeup revelation and Lizz is enjoying her most sentimental Christmas gift — a cutting board with her grandma’s rum cake recipe on it.

In January, Kelly’s speaking at the National Automotive Dealers Association and the New York Auto Show tours are sold out! Looking ahead to the rest of 2024’s automotive action, Kelly is on the edge of her seat for the Traverse and Acadia (but also nervous about their pricing), is interested in the Hyundai Santa Fe, and is excited for the EV9. She and Lizz predict this will be a telling year for what’s happening in the EV market. Both gals are eagerly waiting for a Ford Explorer and Honda Odyssey redesign.

A listener writes in for advice on managing mom guilt. Kelly says every mom will either feel guilty for leaving their kiddos to go to work or guilty for being with them and wanting to be at work. There are benefits to everyone — including dad — when mom is away. Another listener asks if she should go with the standard Tahoe Expedition or opt for the extended wheelbase. Kelly says for three kids go with the bench, but for four kids go with the extended version. Lizz adds a handy reminder to check your garage size if you’re shopping for a bigger vehicle. 

Lizz won’t shut up about today’s ditch the drive-through: her sweet and sour sticky slow cooker ribs. These mouth-watering morsels are cooked with ground ginger, salt, and pepper and then broiled with a mixture of soy sauce, ketchup, apricot preserves, and apple cider vinegar.
